When people think of skiing in the northeast, they often think of Vermont, the Catskills or the Poconos, but there is a little known fact - New Jersey has great skiing too. People generally seem to think that the NJ Tourism season ends when summer fades away, people put their bathing suits away and the Jersey Shore goes quiet, but that is the furthest thing from the truth. New Jersey is truly an ALL season destination.
There are many winter activities in NJ and skiing is a major one, especially in the mountain region of NJ's Northwest counties. In addition to downhill skiing, there is world class snowboarding (Mountain Creek is often host to the X-Games), as well as cross country skiing.
For a great workout, check out the state parks which allow cross country skiing.
